As most of you know sweet baby Waylan Hensley was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on October 11th 2018 at the young age of 6 months old. She went through 5 rounds of chemotherapy and lengthy stays in the hospital over about a 6 month period of time. Finishing chemotherapy treatments on March 14th 2019 she got to ring the bell shortly after claiming she had beaten this horrible beast. She finally got to go home and be with her 4 siblings who missed her so much. Waylan stayed very healthy for months making leaps and bounds. Now on November 27th she wasn’t feeling well and Veronica knew something was wrong, at the doctors office she got the worst news she could have gotten after abnormal lab results, “Waylan has relapsed.” This time was a little different. Doctors found these cancer cells in her spinal fluid as well. Waylan will under go 2 rounds of chemo inpatient at mission hospital. She will then be going to Durham at DUKE for a bone marrow transplant. This is a minimum of 100 days inpatient and could be 5 months or more. Being over 3 hours away from her family. Her mother and father will be with her every step of the way. They are both taking leaves from work to take care of Waylan and be by her side through this whole process. As a parent the struggle of having other children, working, and being 3 hours away from home is going to be very stressful on them. Any and all donations raised will go directly to them to help them with expenses of being away from home for such a length of time. First and foremost they are requesting that everyone please continue to pray for Waylan as she undergoes this process and for the strength for them as parents to remain calm and peaceful and support Waylan and their family throughout it all. We appreciate each and every one of you!
