Submission is a prominent theme that Peter elaborates on in the heart of this epistle"submission as citizens to corrupt government (2:13-17), as workers to unfair bosses (2:18-25), as spouses to unbelieving partners (3:1-7), as servants in the church (3:8-12). The issue at hand in the text before is what does God expect of us when we are the recipients of unjust suffering. In one word we could simply say, Submit, and Peter goes on to explain why.
