Peters has been developing his letter though a series of important themes. In the first section of this chapter, Peter emphasized walking in hope (1:3-12), then he focused on walking in holiness (1:13-21). Now he turns his attention to the church walking in harmony (1:22-2:3). The old fisherman has given us at least four incentives why the church should strive for unity.
