The Cosmic Conflict of Christmas

The Cosmic Conflict of Christmas

Passage: Revelation 12:1-5

Preacher: Derrick McCarson

Series: Christmas 2016

Category: Christmas

Keywords: christmas, incarnation, nativity, revelation

Summary:

When we think of the Christmas story, the last thing that comes to mind are the scenes of a battlefield. Yet, Christ’s entry into our time and space was an invasion of epic proportions. Deity was invading humanity; royalty was entering poverty; light was dispelling the darkness; and the forces of good were carving out a beach head in enemy occupied territory. We get a sense of the cosmic conflict of Christmas by going to an unlikely source—Revelation 12—a scene full of strange, apocalyptic visions. The Apostle John pulls back the veil giving us a rare glimpse into the invisible war that was taking place in the backdrop of the Nativity story.
