Here’s a terrifying thought experiment—what would a world without mercy look like? Someone has suggested that in world without mercy the principles of the swastika would overrule the cross—for there would be no Calvary to speak of. We would not want to inhabit such a world and that is why the next Beatitude in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is especially relevant, “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.”
