The doctrine of God is fundamental to all other doctrines in Christianity. if we arent worshipping the God of the Bible then we are merely worshipping an idol of our making. The unity of God is the first pillar to building a strong foundation of faith. This doctrine simply means that there is one God and that He is essentially one is His being and not composed of any separate parts. God is singular in His existence and in His essence.
